On Tuesday, Reception enjoyed a wonderful day at Bocketts Farm, following our learning about animals in science this term.
We began with a tractor ride around the farm, where we saw many animals in the fields, including their babies. A highlight was spotting the impressive Shire horses and tiny piglets in the woods! The girls then had the opportunity to get up close and stoke the rabbits, guinea pigs and even a special chicken called Silky during the animal encounters.
We continued our visit in the barn, where the girls fed goats, cows, sheep and alpacas. We even saw a baby goat that had been born that very morning. Along the way, we heard lots of facts and learnt about animal families, including the names for male, female and baby animals. We also met Elsie, the Shetland pony, and discovered how to care for her.
After a busy morning, we enjoyed lunch together before watching the pigs’ race, definitely a highlight of our day! We finished with some time in the playground before heading back to school, tired but happy after such a memorable trip.
