Charities

Central to our mission as a school is the development of compassionate and community-minded young women.

We encourage our pupils to engage in charitable work in the community to instil a drive to help, and an awareness of the needs of others. Pupils, staff, parents and the Prep School Parents’ Association work hard to raise money for a range of causes including different international charities, as well as responding to the needs of our immediate neighbourhood.

Each September, the School announces a local cause to support at the annual charity launch assembly and organises events throughout the year to raise funds. Recent chosen charities include CW+ and Bees for Refugees. We are also proud to support, along with Francis Holland Sloane Square, two long standing local charities: In-Deep and the Katherine Low Settlement.

Charity fundraising takes many forms at Francis Holland Prep, from cake sales and parent and pupil breakfasts, to selling honey and even Francis Holland Charity Dog Show!

The Prep School is committed to raising awareness of environmental sustainability. We ensure that environmental issues are taught thoughtfully and responsibly to girls across our curriculum, and we encourage our girls and families to be as sustainability focused as they can be. We aim to give the girls the knowledge they need to drive change, while also equipping them with the competencies and skills they will need to thrive in whatever their future may hold.

We have an elected Eco-champion in every class, share an eco-tip in assembly each week and foster ‘a switch off’ culture to ensure lights and computers are not left on unnecessarily. Our Eco-Committee has a large and growing membership that works hard on the Eco-Schools Green Flag seven step framework. Previous projects have included installing bird boxes on the school site, writing letters to world leaders and the introduction of TerraCycle boxes in each classroom.
