On Tuesday, Year 5 and 6 girls visited Norbury Park for Forest School, where they became ‘Green Man’ makers. Using hazel from local coppice, the girls learned whittling techniques to carve woodland guardians with ‘stop-cut’ eyes and leafy beards, connecting to 1,000 years of folklore. The girls also explored signs of spring turning to summer – fresh beech leaves, late bluebells, and deadwood habitats – linking history, science and art. Each girl took home their Green Man as a reminder to protect the woods!
