On Tuesday, Year 1 excitedly headed off to the RAF Museum for a day filled with planes, helicopters, and flying fun. The girls have been learning about the history of transport in their lessons, exploring how it has evolved from Viking boats and steam trains to the driverless cars of today; they were eager to gain a greater understanding of the history of flight.

The girls were engaged through a brilliant workshop titled ‘Fantastic Flight.’ During this session, they were taken on a journey from the first plane invented by the Wright Brothers to the De Havilland, the Spitfire, the Gnat, and the Lightning – which the girls were amazed to discover can travel at 2,400 km per hour!

Following the workshop, the girls had the opportunity to explore the museum further, which included walking inside a Sunderland flying boat!

It was a wonderful day out, and the girls learned so many interesting facts. Perhaps they can even tell you what the four forces of flight are! A huge thank you to our parent volunteers for joining us on our trip.
