On Thursday, Reception had the exciting opportunity to visit the local fire station. The girls were welcomed by the firefighters, who explained more about what their job involved and how they must be ready to respond to emergencies at a moment’s notice.

Incredibly, just five minutes into our visit, the station received a real emergency call. The girls got to witness the firefighters spring into action, quickly putting on their protective gear and heading off in their fire engines with the lights on and sirens blaring.

Firefighter Stan then spoke to the girls about fire safety. He showed us how to put on his uniform, explained what to do in case of a fire, and reminded the children to help their grown-ups check that smoke alarms at home are working properly.

The firefighters have kindly invited us back for a full tour of the fire trucks. It was a memorable visit that sparked lots of excitement and learning back in the classroom.
