We were so pleased that the image of our Fearless Girl, a symbol of courage and fortitude, clearly inspired the RHS judges this week. It was thrilling to receive our second Gold award, alongside another special mention for Innovation. One judge praised our creativity (something us FHS girls are rather good at!) and remarked on how powerfully the installation reflected the strength and uniqueness of our special community.
It prompted us to reflect on the extraordinary way art brings people together, celebrating every individual and their unique ideas. The wings of our dragon, embellished with a constellation of stars, each one created by a member of our ‘FHS Solar System’, beautifully symbolised belonging, connection, and the power of collaboration.
From start to finish, inspired minds came together to realise a design that demanded both ‘blue-sky thinking’ and a ‘growth mindset’, qualities our girls know well. It takes courage to be ambitious; after all, standing up to a dragon armed only with a pencil requires some real determination. Yet with confidence and self-belief, anything is possible.
An enormous thank you goes to our Facilities Team, especially Csaba, Filipe and Andy, for embracing every idea (and every change of idea!) with enthusiasm and for rising to the challenge of bringing our dragon to life. Finally, huge congratulations to Lola Cavanilles for her masterful floristry and tremendous skill.
Teamwork truly makes the dream work. And now, perhaps, it’s time to start dreaming up ideas for next year…
