A huge thank you to all who donated books for our book sale on Tuesday afternoon. Thanks to your generous donations, your keen purchasing and the enthusiasm of our volunteers, we raised an incredible £950 for Doorstep Library.
The funds raised will go directly towards supporting Doorstep Library’s wonderful work recruiting and training both in-person and online reading volunteers, who visit disadvantaged areas of London and beyond. These volunteers help introduce young children to the pleasure and lifelong benefits of reading – something that truly changes lives. And the impact does not stop there. All the remaining books will be heading to Dulwich Wood Primary School when our own Ms Ivison is building a library from scratch. They currently have no books at all, and now they will have shelves filled with beautiful, almost new books across so many genres. What an extraordinary difference that will make.
There was an absolute buzz in the hall as the girls chose their books. Seeing their excitement – some already with noses buried in their new stories as they left – was simply wonderful. Moments like that remind us exactly why this matters.
