On Thursday afternoon, Year 4 was treated to a visit from Wendy Shearer. Wendy is a masterful storyteller and oral historian who has worked with cultural institutions such as the V&A, British Library and Story Museum among many others. She is also the author of African and Caribbean Folktales, Myths and Legends, which is one of the books our Year 4 classes are studying this half term. Pupils have focused on two stories from this vibrant collection: ‘The Legend of Victoria and Amazonica’ and ‘The Orange Tree’, and few people can bring these tales to life quite like Wendy! In addition to delighting us with interactive performances and sharing her knowledge of the different stories’ countries of origin, Wendy answered questions the girls had prepared in lessons.
