On Wednesday, our Year 5 and Year 6 girls joined forces with the Senior School’s KS3 for a joyful afternoon of musical collaboration at St Mary’s Church.

The choirs from both schools combined to produce powerful, expressive singing in perfect harmony. It was truly special to witness the girls connecting through the shared experience of music-making.

The programme opened with a joint orchestra featuring pupils from Year 5 all the way up to Year 9. Hearing such a full, rich sound and dynamic ensemble playing in Vivaldi’s Autumn, Movement III was a real highlight and set the tone for a wonderful concert ahead.

Year 5 and Year 6 presented the classic song “Smile”, performed with beautiful phrasing and expression. This was followed by “Part of Your World” from The Little Mermaid—a piece that showcased the girls’ teamwork as they watched, listened, and performed with great care and precision.

The concert also featured some exceptional soloists from both schools. Our Prep pupils were inspired by Lily (Year 9), whose operatic performance from The Marriage of Figaro was truly impressive. In return, the Senior School girls were deeply moved by the piano performances from our Year 6 Fanny Davies Music Competition winners, Isabella and Victoria S.

We were delighted to hear the pieces prepared by the Lower School Choir and Lower Chamber Choir. Their ability to sing such sophisticated repertoire – with intricate three part harmonies – was inspiring and demonstrated remarkable musical maturity.

The concert concluded with all the girls joining together in a massed choir. They began with the beautiful folk song “O Waly Waly”, ending in mesmerising cascading vocal lines that genuinely brought a tear to the eye. This was followed by a vibrant and uplifting performance of “How Far I’ll Go” from Moana, which left the entire audience beaming with joy and pride.

It was a truly wonderful opportunity to collaborate with our Senior School sisters down the road. A huge thank you to all of the teachers and staff who helped make this special event possible.
