On Monday, Years 1, 2 and 3 enjoyed a sunny Francis Holland Foresters visit to Norbury Park. They spent the day doing lots of outdoor learning and bushcraft activities, cooking marshmallows on the campfire and drinking some yummy hot chocolates. Year 1 continued their history topic on Pirates, building their own pirate ships out of woodland materials. They also made their own wood cookie necklaces and went on a minibeast hunt in the forest, whilst simultaneously hunting for the Gruffalo. Year 2 channelled both their history and geography topics on Explorers and Coasts; making giant aerial maps of their own islands complete with a key and coastal features, building dens and spear fishing with their own spears that they whittled themselves.
Year 3 created their own natural sculptures of the Loch Ness Monster, having learnt about Scottish Myths and Legends in their English lessons this half term. They also continued their learning on the Ancient Greeks, whittling their own javelins and having a mini Olympic themed throwing competition, as well as using natural materials to write using the Greek alphabet. A great day out was had by all and some excellent teamwork skills and Growth Mindsets were shown. Well done everyone!
