On Thursday, Year 2 enjoyed a day out at Kew Gardens, where they became plant scientists!
They learnt all about the structure of a plant and the uses of each part. They impressed us with their scientific knowledge on the inside of a flower and enjoyed examining the plants closely using microscopes. They spent time learning about different types of seed dispersal and became botanical artists, drawing close ups of the insides of flowers. They even tested how good a squirrel they would be, hiding their food (a raisin) somewhere and seeing if they could remember where they had put it later on. After this, they visited the wild flower garden where they were able to learn and collect different types of wild flowers to make some lovely artwork. A highlight for all was a visit to the children’s playground where some excellent bravery and teamwork were shown. Well done Year 2!
