On Tuesday, the Year 5 and 6 Francis Holland Foresters participated in a captivating Forest School session, blending science, creativity, and bushcraft skills. They crafted their own soap using dried flowers such as rosebuds and lavender, exploring the concept of changing states of matter as they melted and mixed ingredients over a fire.
Following their soap-making activity, the girls applied bushcraft techniques to construct sturdy plough point shelters using tarpaulins and natural materials, developing their understanding of structure and teamwork. It was a highly successful trip, and the girls are already looking forward to their next Forest School adventures in the Summer Term.
The experiences gained in the forest at Norbury Park are invaluable and will undoubtedly have a lasting impact on our girls’ development and appreciation for the outdoors.
Mr Russell, Chief Forester
