On Thursday morning, Year 4 made the short journey to Chelsea Fire Station. On arrival, the girls were amazed by the size of the bright red fire trucks! They were shown lots of things that the fire engines have on board, including the gigantic water tanks and big scissors that cut through metal. The girls particularly enjoyed looking at each other through the thermal imaging camera, which they learnt firefighters use to detect body heat within a fire.

After hearing the fire station alarms that alert firefighters of an emergency, and testing the fire engine sirens, Mr Cilveti had to race against time to see how quickly he could put on a firefighter’s suit! The girls then had some time to ask many curious questions to a group of firefighters, finding out lots of information about what it takes to be a firefighter.

Finally, it was time for Year 4 to become firefighters themselves and to spray the water hoses! The girls had a wonderful experience putting out pretend fires and were shocked by how heavy the hoses were to hold! It was a super end to an amazing trip.
