Last Friday, our Year 4 girls had the unforgettable opportunity to step into the world of television at Sky Studios in London. The trip was not only educational, but also incredibly fun, offering the girls a hands-on experience of what it is like to work behind – and in front of – the camera!
After a warm welcome from the Sky team, the girls were given a fascinating tour of the studios, where they saw first-hand the latest Sky products and innovations. The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the chance to create their very own news reports, focusing on an important and relevant topic: children’s mental and physical health. Working in small, collaborative groups, the girls took on different roles within a real TV production team. Some became producers and directors, taking charge of the vision and flow of the show. Others embraced their creativity as scriptwriters, while some stepped into technical roles such as camera operator or editor. Meanwhile, our budding journalists became reporters, experts, and even eyewitnesses to bring their stories to life on screen.
It was inspiring to see the teamwork, imagination, and confidence the girls displayed throughout the process. They researched, rehearsed, and finally recorded their reports – complete with lights, cameras, and action! Watching their final productions play back on screen was a proud moment for all of us, and we very much hope the parents loved the final product as well!
