On Wednesday morning, we welcomed the families of the girls in Year 2 and Year 3 into the Dining Hall for our second parent breakfast of this academic year. This year’s charity, School in a Bag, is an organisation that provides educational resources in a brightly coloured school bag to disadvantaged, displaced and disaster-affected children. Each bag contains items such as stationery, learning materials, hygiene products and a lunchbox. These items empower children to access education and build brighter futures.
Prior to this breakfast, our fundraising total stood at £3,152.76. This has allowed us to buy 126 bags, which will be packed by the girls next week. The girls have been working in partners to write letters to go into these bags so that each bag has an additional personal message.
Due to the huge generosity of the Year 2 and Year 3 parents, this week’s breakfast raised over £2,100, which is enough to buy a further 84 bags. This is an incredible total and has well and truly set the benchmark for our next events!
We would love to raise enough to buy a further 200 bags, meaning that each girl will have sent one individually and one with a partner – an ambitious target, but one that we believe is fully achievable!
Thank you to everyone who came and contributed to this event.
