Our recent performance of Romeo and Juliet by the Year 3 and Year 4 girls was truly a remarkable achievement and an absolute joy to watch. From the very beginning, the production showcased not only the girls’ growing confidence, but also their incredible ability to work together as a team. The sense of cooperation and mutual support was evident in every scene, with each pupil playing an important role in bringing this renowned Shakespearean story to life.
One of the most impressive aspects of the play was that all lines were delivered in Old English! The girls rose to this challenge with great determination, showing a mature understanding of the language and performing it with clarity and expression well beyond their years. Their commitment to mastering such complex dialogue was outstanding. Thank you, Miss Wakefield, for preparing such a wonderful script for the play and developing the girls’ performing skills, and thank you, Miss Houlder and Miss Faber, for composing all the music and songs for this brilliant show!
We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the families for their invaluable support. Practising lines at home and encouraging the girls throughout the process made a significant difference and contributed greatly to the success and overall enjoyment of the performance.
Finally, the girls’ acting was simply exceptional. Their expressive delivery, confident stage presence, and ability to captivate the audience made the entire production feel like a true West End show. It was a memorable experience for everyone involved, and we are incredibly proud of each and every one of them.
