Last week, our Year 4 girls had the unforgettable opportunity to step into the world of television at Sky Studios in London. The trip was not only educational, but also incredibly fun, offering the girls a hands-on experience of what it’s like to work behind — and in front of — the camera!

After a warm welcome from the Sky team, the girls were given a fascinating tour of the studios, where they saw first-hand the latest Sky products and innovations. The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the chance to produce their very own film trailers, developing their creativity. Working in small, collaborative groups, the girls took on different roles within a real TV production team. Some became producers and directors, taking charge of the vision and flow of the show. Others embraced their creativity as scriptwriters, while some stepped into technical roles such as camera operator or editor. Meanwhile, some girls became professional actresses bringing the girls’ stories to life on screen.

It was inspiring to see the teamwork, imagination, and confidence the girls displayed throughout the process. They discussed ideas, rehearsed, and finally recorded their film trailers. Watching their final productions play back on screen was a proud and terribly fun moment for all of us, and we very much hope the parents enjoyed the final product as well!

Mr Cilveti – Year 4C Class Teacher

“Last Friday, we went on a memorable trip to Sky Studios. It was amazing. We made our own trailer for our made-up film. There was a camera, actresses, special effects coordinator, editor and a director. It was really fun. We got to dress up and see an F1 Audi! We also saw Spiderman’s costume that Tom Holland wore!”  – Stella (4C Form Captain)

“Our trip to Sky Studios was amazing! I had so much fun. We made our own film trailers, and I will never forget how cool it was to get dressed up and film!”  – Ariana (4C Deputy Form Captain)

“Our trip to Sky Studios was full of highlights! We saw the coolest race cars, a TV that can find the remote for you (everyone wanted that!) and we made our own trailers for our stories. It was one of the coolest school trips EVER! All the staff there were so friendly and we got really fun roles. Before we filmed our trailers, we got to go to the dressing room. That was the best bit!”Rhea (4J Form Captain)

“We learnt so much during our school trip to Sky Studios last week. One of the best bits was the dressing room, which was full of costumes! We made our own film trailers, which the members of staff at Sky then put together. We were also shown different Sky products, like their TV. You can speak to the TV and ask questions! That was just incredible!” – Judith (4J Deputy Form Captain)
